Adjacent to the Trans Canada Trail, the area also includes informal hiking routes that are continually being improved. By 2012, the area was officially declared ecologically significant, with recommendations to connect it to Ottawa\u2019s Greenbelt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, only 1,000 hectares are formally protected as a natural reserve.
