W Flowers is a one-designer shop, and that shows in both directions: the arrangements lean European — structured, tall, built around line rather than filler — and the rules around delivery are unusually explicit for a small florist. What to come here for

The bread and butter is the gift bouquet with a bit of ceremony to it: an anniversary, an engagement, a graduation, a get-well delivery to a hospital room, an arrangement sent to an office. The shop sits on the Nepean side of the city’s west end, on a commercial artery with plenty of parking — a stop you fold into other errands rather than a trip in itself. Come earlier in the day if you want the cut-off to be irrelevant, and earlier in the week before Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and the December stretch, when the whole city is ordering at once. Sunday is not a walk-in day, so plan a weekend purchase for Saturday morning. In a January cold snap ask for the bouquet to be wrapped for the car, especially if it is travelling across the river.
